Overview
Opioid prescribing in the Emergency Department is suprisingly common — or at least we were surprised by the data presented in this hour with Emergency Medicine physicians Mike Repplinger, MD and Ben Schnapp, MD. During this session we talk about best practices in prescribing opioids for trauma in the Emergency Department, non-opioid alternatives, and how to manage chronic opioid use and opioid use disorder in the ED setting.
This session also reviews data from the Surgical Collaborative of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Health Information Organization about opioid prescribing for common emergency conditions in Wisconsin.
